Gumroad you need to allow Philippine-based accounts to use PayPal payouts! No Filipino Gumroader will want local bank payouts because our banks in the Philippines are fee monsters! Unlike other countries, we want PayPal and Payoneer more.
I recently talked to Gumroad support as I accidentally shifted from PayPal to direct bank payouts. They said they can't revert to PayPal payout to my account! This is NOT GOOD because local bank payouts is too costly compared to PayPal->GCash payout!
As a Filipino Gumroader this is BAD NEWS. International transfers using SWIFT to Philippine banks is VERY costly. BDO and BPI charges around $4 while UnionBank charges $10! Plus they also charge Php 0.60 per Php 200 of remittance! With PayPal we can transfer it to GCash for free.
In the Philippines, SWIFT transfers are buggy! We have countless horror stories of floating money because the remittance was rejected by our local bank (buggy systems). Worst, when returned to sender, we are charged $5-10 return fee!!!
The Philippines has one of the highest number of migrant workers sending remittance to the Philippines. Guess what, no one uses SWIFT! They use MoneyGram, WU, Remitly, even crypto, because the fees are less than local bank's fees for inward transfers.
Other countries may like local bank transfers. In the Philippines it's an opposite story.
So PLEASE continue offering PayPal option to Philippine Gumroad accounts. You may offer both PayPal and Local bank transfer, BUT NEVER remove the PayPal option for Philippine accounts.
